4 Advantages of Real Estate Blogging

4 Advantages of Real Estate BloggingIn the last while, you’ve probably noticed that blogging has exploded in the real estate community. If you haven’t yet taken up blogging, consider doing it. Thousands of real estate agents are experiencing enormous benefits to their business. You can too.

Build Relationships. When it comes down to it, people want to do business with people, especially when it has to do with a personal transaction like buying or selling a home. It’s important for them to enlist with a real estate agent who they know and trust. Blogging gives you a unique opportunity to build personal, long-lasting relationships with people well before you even meet them. By giving your clients and prospects a taste of your personality, they get an impression of what it would be like to work with you.

Position Yourself as an Expert. Regular and consistent blogging gives you a platform to demonstrate your knowledge, experience and wisdom in real estate sales to your clients and prospects. You can showcase your expertise in industry trends, local neighborhoods, and things people should consider when they buy or sell a home. As you share your thoughts, opinions, and ideas about real estate trends, it will not only boost your credibility but also elevate your visibility as a trusted source in real estate. With a local reputation, home sellers and buyers will seek you out when they need advice with a sale or purchase.

Differentiate Yourself from the Pack. Having a blog can give you a competitive edge over other real estate agents by giving your readers an inside look on who you are and how you operate your business. You also give something of value to your readers with no strings attached. This means knowing what your readers want to know and providing it to them. As readers and potential clients, we get to experience what makes you a more worthy candidate than your competitor down the street.

Search Engine Marketing. If you’re like most real estate agents, you find it difficult to optimize your website to be ranked highly in major search engines such as Google. A blog, on the other hand, can change that for you. By its very design, blogs contain the kind of data and code that search engines like and are crawled more regularly. If you are consistently posting fresh content, search engine spiders will visit more often and help you achieve high placement in search engine results. This means that when people go searching for an answer to their real estate question and you’ve addressed it in a blog posting with key words, they will stumble upon you!

I started blogging this past year and have noticed results in all of the above areas almost instantly. As a business person, blogging gives me a venue to stimulate conversation with my client group (real estate agents) in a way that no other networking medium has been able to do.

Have your started blogging? If so, what’s your experience been? If not, what holds you back?
